The task

Nationale-Nederlanden strives to make its financial services more personal and relevant by providing employees with an inspiring workplace. For the Toorop location in Amsterdam, ZENBER Architects was commissioned to design an inviting entrance, a multifunctional company restaurant and a new work environment. The goal was to create spaces that facilitate individual work, collaboration, and hospitality, in line with the NN Way of Working.

A reception with a sleek white desk and the Nationale Nederlanden logo, wooden wall panels, and a modern look. A customer sits at the counter while an employee sits at a computer.
A cafeteria with a glossy beige tile counter, light marble accents, and tables and chairs. In the distance, people sit at tables under big black lights.
A long corridor with seats and tables on the left side. The floor is beige, with lots of light and a seating area in the distance.
“Inviting entrance and multifunctional company restaurant.”
Sleek white tables with brown benches in a restaurant setup, separated by wooden planters with green plants.
An overview of a buffet with a marble counter and lots of treats, surrounded by black metal frames.
A modern glass-paneled buffet filled with food and drinks. The space has a light and open layout with beige floor tiles and lots of lighting.

About this project

ZENBER Architects has created a completely new interior design for the Nationale-Nederlanden Toorop location in Amsterdam. The design includes a welcoming entrance, a modern company restaurant and a flexible work environment that supports employees in both individual and team-oriented activities.

Entrance

The renewed entrance exudes accessibility and professionalism and offers visitors and employees a warm welcome. With an open and modern design, the space becomes a pleasant place to enter and immediately experience the feeling of hospitality.

Company restaurant

The multi-functional company restaurant is designed as a place where employees can relax, collaborate and network. The restaurant offers flexible seating options that allow the use of the space for various purposes, such as lunch, informal meetings and presentations.

A work of art made of arched white panels hangs on a wooden wall. On the left, there is a decorative partition made of colored circles.
“Working together: healthy and vital.”

The interior promotes interaction between employees and at the same time offers quiet zones for focus and concentration.
