The task

Nationale Nederlanden (NN) strives to make financial services more personal and relevant to its customers. This starts with an inspiring and functional workplace for its employees. NN asked ZENBER Architects to provide interior design for various locations, including Delftse Poort in Rotterdam and the Haagse Poort in The Hague. The assignment was to create an innovative work environment that fits the NN Way of Working, with a focus on collaboration, flexibility and sustainability.

About this project

The work environment of Nationale Nederlanden in the Haagse Poort was designed with an activity-related workplace concept as a starting point. This is in line with NN's agile approach and offers a wide range of workplaces that support various workflows. The interior includes reception areas, lounges, scrum rooms, brainstorming rooms, project rooms, meeting rooms and a company restaurant with a roof terrace.

Agile working and scrum

The design facilitates agile working with spaces such as stand-up and grandstand spaces, ideal for day starts, presentations and brainstorming sessions. These sessions are supported by whiteboards, scrum walls, and LCD screens. For individual work, there are spacious land areas and concentrated zones. In call centers, acoustics have been optimized with acoustic screens between desks. The combination of these zones makes it possible to switch flexibly between collaboration and individual work.

Meet and relax

Encounter and collaboration are stimulated in the coffee corners, where wooden tables and narrowcasting screens create an inviting atmosphere. Coupe workstations near the coffee corners offer opportunities for short meetings or individual work, with integrated displays for easy information exchange. In addition, there are sports and relaxation areas that promote a healthy balance between work and relaxation.

“A green and circular work environment for a sustainable future.”
