The task

NN Group strives to help people secure their financial future through a way of working that is based on the core values: care, clear and commit. These core values also form the starting point for the design of their workplaces. The assignment for ZENBER Architects was to create an inspiring interior design for the Toorop locations in Amsterdam, Delftse Poort in Rotterdam and the Haagse Poort in The Hague. For the head office in The Hague, the goal was to design an innovative work environment of 20,000 m² that supports agile working, encourages encounters and integrates sustainability.

A cozy space with wooden stands and built-in lighting, with green and brown cushions for seating comfort.
A work area with orange and pink sofas around a desk with computer monitors. Plants and light provide a fresh atmosphere.
A conference room with a long green table, green chairs and a wall of plants. Modern hanging lights and a painting on the wall complete the design.
“A dynamic design that supports agile working.”
Two computer monitors on a white table in an open work area, with white bins filled with green plants hanging above.
A kitchen and sitting area with orange sofas, an orange grid ceiling and a green wall.
A bright hallway with glass meeting rooms, orange walls and a person working at a high table with a laptop.

About this project

NN Group's work environment in The Hague is designed according to an activity-related workplace concept that makes flexible use and collaboration possible. The design responds to the various work processes within the organization and offers a wide range of workplaces, from individual concentration areas to spaces for group work and meetings.

Agile working and scrum

The environment supports the agile way of working with stand-up spaces and stands for day starts, presentations and brainstorming sessions. These are equipped with whiteboards, scrum walls and LCD screens. Landings offer spacious tables for individual work or collaboration, while quiet zones provide optimal concentration with excellent acoustics through fabric walls and acoustic screens. Call centers are equipped with extra noise attenuation for a comfortable working environment.

Meet and relax

The coffee corners function as central meeting places where a wooden table and good coffee create an inviting atmosphere. Coupe workstations near the coffee corners offer space for short meetings or individual work, with integrated displays for easy information sharing. In addition, there are sports and relaxation areas that support a healthy balance between work and leisure.

“Green and circular design for a healthy work environment.”

Vital and green

The office wings are compact and well-organized, with short walking lines and sight lines. Hanging gardens and plants not only make the work environment greener, but also healthier and more pleasant. The circular furniture is made from recyclable and sustainable materials, bringing the design in line with NN Group's sustainable ambitions.
