WERKBEDRIJF RIJK VAN NIJMEGEN

Werkbedrijf is a government agency that links businesses with job seekers. The smart Werkbedrijf location in Nijmegen was designed by ZENBER.

uniting the interior with the exterior

The powerful, communicative graphics on the facade make the building easily recognisable from Nieuwe Dukenburgseweg. Coloured awnings and areas of floor that spill over to the outside open up the entrance and parts of the gable, uniting the interior with the exterior and inviting clients and candidates to come inside.

The building is used for various purposes by three groups: the 140-strong Werkbedrijf workforce, employers, and job candidates and employees.
The working café is the first port of call. Here people can engage in informal conversation, work, or make arrangements. Formal interviews between Werkbedrijf and job candidates and employees are held at open or closed booths or in private rooms, depending on the circumstances. Consultation and waiting rooms – also known as ‘nests’ – are situated on the patio and offer a beautiful view of the green inner courtyard. The building has various working and client zones, meeting and seminar rooms, a podium and a multifunctional restaurant and working café. The whole interior has an open aspect, which makes the different user groups and the dynamics clearly visible.

“The graphics shows the different fields of activity of the organisation and their ambition”

The municipal Werkbedrijf is a regional partnership

The interior graphics, designed by ZENBER in harmony with the overall concept, communicate the ambition of the organisation – to be ‘the linking factor between employers and employees’ – and show the various areas it works in. The municipal Werkbedrijf is a regional partnership comprising the municipalities of Beuningen, Druten, Groesbeek, Heumen, Mook and Middelaar, Nijmegen, and Wijchen, the regional youth employment centre (Regionaal Jongerenloket Nijmegen) and Breed as well as businesses, advisory bodies, client councils, organisations for exceptional medical expenses (AWBZ), participation groups and educational institutes. It has replaced the individual municipal departments and aims to assist job seekers with all aspects of employment from one and the same service point.
