FRIESLAND WATER BOARD – WETTERSKIP FRYSLÂN

ZENBER Architecten has been commissioned by the Friesland Water Board (Wetterskip Fryslân) to come up with an interior design/layout, furniture and materials for the refurbishment. The project concerns the refurbishment of an existing office building, namely the head office of the Friesland Water Board in Leeuwarden.

Points of departure of the refurbishment

The water board wants to continue developing into a collaboration-oriented, client-oriented, efficient organisation which is connected to its social surroundings and carries out its tasks innovatively and sustainably. The new office environment has to provide an optimal basis for this continued development and points of departure and optimally support and stimulate the process-oriented and project-oriented work of the Friesland Water Board. The assignment was to come up with the right layout, furniture and materials for the office environment of this (semi-)government institution (GFA 6,300m2), with 290 workstations divided over 4 floors, and to create a modern, warm and colourful look.

“Warm and colourful look and feel.”

clean water and flood defences

The task of the Friesland Water Board is to provide clean water and look after the flood defences in the province of Friesland and the Groninger Westerkwartier region. Its responsibilities include maintaining water levels in ditches, waterways and canals in order to prevent drought and flooding, as well as purifying waste water from households and businesses and managing and monitoring the dykes, quays and riverbanks.
