ROC VAN AMSTERDAM CBURG COLLEGE

Cburg College specializes in vocational training for young people who intend to pursue a career in the services sector, commerce or IT. The relatively small-scale institute currently has four hundred students to whom it offers a safe, caring and inspiring learning environment.

BEATING HEART

The school occupies a three-storey building on Zeeburgereiland. A large central hall forms the ‘beating heart’ of the building, providing access to open squares, classrooms, meeting rooms, dining hall, team lounges and vocational training rooms beyond. Each type of area has its own distinct colour scheme. This helps staff and students find their way around and to recognize the function of each room at a glance: interaction, learning, having lunch, relaxing or meetings and presentations.

SHOP IN SHOP CONCEPT

A key part of the school’s modern curriculum is ‘hands-on’ experience. ZENBER’s interior design therefore incorporates the ‘shop in shop’ concept, which enables students to interact with real-life customers in a professional setting. The environment in which students will eventually work has been recreated as faithfully as possible to encourage effective learning and help them to prepare thoroughly for their future careers.

“Cburg College has a community function and strives to involve local residents in its various activities. ”

COMMUNITY FUNCTION

Cburg College has a community function and strives to involve local residents in its various activities. The plinth of the building is transparent to ensure maximum visibility of the ‘shop in shop’ concept. Students are able to showcase what they are doing and what they can offer the community. Members of the public are welcome to visit the school during special opening times.
