FESTIVE OPENING HYPERION LYCEUM

In the presence of the students, their parents, employees and other guests Hyperion Lyceum was officially and festively opened! After the speeches by Rector Elly Loman, Marjolein Moorman, Alderman for Education, and Ronald Wilcke, board member of the ROC of Amsterdam, seven pupils had the honour of officially using the slide in the school. With confetti cannons they were festively received at the bottom of the slide and the Carnival Hyperion could break loose. It was a huge success!

All attendees were treated to a festive program with various activities and guided tours to get acquainted with the fantastic new school building on the Badhuiskade on Overhoeks. The Hyperion Lyceum is proud of the grand and at the same time playful architecture that makes varied and contemporary education possible: a great auditorium, beautiful labs, classrooms, group rooms and individual workplaces. But also workshops for visual education, music studios and gymnasiums with a panoramic view.

The new school building fulfils Hyperion’s educational vision which is primarily oriented around self-development, cooperation and ambition. ZENBER Architecten was responsible for the interior design. The wishes and preferences of the design team, consisting of students, parents and staff members were translate into the design.
The Hyperion Lyceum is a school for pre-university education (VWO+), offering two levels of pre-university education (‘gymnasium’ and ‘atheneum’). At both levels the emphasis is on the development of an academic intellectual ability. The main focus is on learning to think critically and rationally with an eye for people and society. The Hyperion Lyceum assumes that pupils are eager to learn and are talented. Our education equips pupils intellectually in such a way that they can develop into critical citizens who are properly engaged in society.
